How an all-rounder gets drift

Worth unpacking, because it is the model's defining feature.

Drift comes from two qualities: low weight and moderate lift. A light kite stays up on less tension. A kite with moderate lift does not try to climb when released.

That second quality is the price. A kite that drifts well by definition jumps more modestly than a big-air kite. The Moto X is no exception: its stated disciplines are freeride and waves, and big air is not among them.

So "one kite for everything" here means "freeride plus waves", not "freeride plus jumping". And that is honest wording.

What the 5 to 10 m range tells you

We always read the ends of a range — they reveal purpose better than marketing does.

A 5 m at the bottom means strong wind. Unusual for an all-rounder: ordinary freeride kites start at 7 m.

A 10 m at the top — and that is it. No 12, no 14.

Conclusion: the Moto X leans towards brisk wind and waves. Logical, since wave spots are rarely light and a directional board needs less area.

First jumps, certainly. But big air is not among its stated disciplines, and for height you want a Switchblade or Nitro.

Is the 10 m enough for light wind?

At 12 to 14 knots over 85 kg, no. The range stops at ten metres.
