Ocean & Earth Slimline Lightweight Comp One-XT - 5ft Leash

A leash is the only thing connecting you to your board after a wipeout. Its length is a safety question, not a comfort one: too short and the board snaps back at your head coming out of a wave; too long and it gets a run-up before it reaches you. The rule is simple — match the leash to your board length or go slightly longer.

The One-XT cord is Ocean & Earth's top spec: moulded urethane with less permanent stretch for the same strength. In practice it springs back less under load and doesn't slowly turn into elastic that lets the board run too far.

Slimline is the thinnest cord Ocean & Earth make. A thin leash simply drags less: a thick cord pulls water with it, and on a fast board you feel that in acceleration and down the line. 5 ft suits a shortboard.

Who it isn't for. A thin comp leash is built for average surf and a light board: in powerful waves or on a longboard the load exceeds what it's for. Big surf wants a thick leash or a quick-release model.
