Ocean & Earth COR_X Shortboard Binding

A basic three-piece pad for a standard shortboard. Three pieces isn't cost-cutting, it's construction: the pad follows the curve of the deck instead of trying to lie flat on it, so the edges don't lift on a rockered tail.

The manufacturer's numbers: 305 mm long, 300 mm wide, 7 mm arch, 25 mm power kick. A moderate arch — your foot finds the centre blind without tiring over a long session. The 25 mm kick is middle ground too: enough to brace through a turn, not so much that stepping forward is awkward.

Diamond tread — the classic grid that holds a wet foot and a bootie alike.

Who it isn't for. Too narrow for fish and hybrids with wide tails, where the COR_X Fish pad runs 15 mm wider. Riders wanting an aggressive high kick will find 25 mm soft. And stripping an old pad off an epoxy deck is its own job — do it warm.
