Ocean & Earth APEX Shortboard Travel Cover - 1 Board Bag

APEX is Ocean & Earth's top travel cover line, and what separates it from a padded sock is that the protection is structural. The XPS outer shell holds its own shape, so it takes the hit before the hit reaches the board. The construction is listed as patent applied — this is not a rebadged standard bag.

This version takes one shortboard and is cut compact — none of the spare volume airlines measure as oversize. Under the shell sits 10 mm of anti-shock foam. The aircon vent system lets hot air out: a dark cover in the sun becomes an oven, and heat is a direct route to delaminated deck.

The zip-out tail gusset earns its place: unzip it when the board travels with fins on, zip it away when they're off. It removes the usual compromise where a cover either flaps half-empty or won't close.

Who it isn't for. Anyone travelling with two boards or more — take the right capacity, because a second board will not go in, and pairing a hard cover with a soft one defeats the point. It's also overkill for a taxi ride to the next beach, where a day bag does the job. And weigh it: a structural shell is heavier than a standard cover, and you'll see it at check-in.
