Cheap plastic fins stiffen in cold water and shred your heels within an hour. These fins float. A fin ripped off in shorebreak comes back to the surface rather than heading for the bottom, which over a season is not a small thing. The blade is stiff: short, powerful kicks, which is what a take-off actually needs. The sole carries a traction pattern, so you can walk over rock and reef without going over.
