Description
The HM 107 cm carbon mast is the race mast, built in high-modulus carbon. HM means a higher fibre content and stiffer fibres — GONG uses Toray M40J in this range.
Why stiffness matters: the mast is the most loaded part of a foil, working in bending and torsion at once. A soft mast wanders at speed, loses its line and eats the energy you put into pumping. A rigid one transmits foot input to the wing without lag.
At 107 cm this is the longest in the range — a tool for racing and open-water speed, letting you stay above the chop and hold hard rail without breaching. In shallow water or while learning it's excess length and a real hazard.
