The Weekend is built for midlengths, and what sets it apart is length: it's noticeably longer than most pads.

The reason is technique. On a midlength the back foot doesn't sit in one spot the way it does on a shortboard — it shuffles: back toward the tail through a turn, forward when trimming. A short shortboard pad covers only one of those positions, leaving your foot on bare deck half the time.

Four pieces let you space the sections around your own foot positions rather than average ones.

Who it isn't for. Excessive on a shortboard — take the three-piece arch. And on a longboard many surfers stay with wax: the walking range there is wider than any pad covers.
