Description
The Ripper 6 is a hybrid of two former CORE boards: the versatility of the Ripper and the composure of the Green Room in bigger surf. The result delivers more without losing range, but with a clear bias towards wave riding at a sporting level.
Who it is honestly aimed at. The maker says it plainly: advanced to very experienced wave riders, those who want active feedback, and medium to large waves. They also add something descriptions rarely admit — less comfort zone, more response. This board wants to be ridden: active footwork and precise weight shifts are rewarded, passive riding is not.
The core change is the headline. XPS replaces EPS: waterproof and considerably more durable. For a board that lives in salt water and takes hits, that goes straight to service life.
Construction. A glass sandwich with no stringer, a flat deck for even load distribution and an integrated Sorik layer for structural stiffness. Together they give controlled flex, higher breaking strength and a noticeably more direct feel underfoot.
Shape. The outline is narrower, raising agility and rail control. The new squash tail gives a clean release and a precise, predictable turn radius with more drive out of the tail. The bottom runs single concave forward into double concave through the tail — the board turns in actively and changes direction fast.
Important when sizing. Lengths are almost unchanged, but the middle of the board is narrower. CORE explicitly recommend sizing the Ripper 6 up relative to its predecessor. Weight guidance: 5'5" (20 L) for 50-75 kg, 5'8" (22.5 L) for 65-90 kg, 5'11" (25.2 L) from 80 kg.
Made by hand. Developed on Fehmarn, built by experienced shapers in Portugal — CORE cite dimensional precision and the specific behaviour of a glass board as the reason.
Sustainability. Level One Verified Ecoboard: recyclable foams and bio-resins, offcuts reused as shipping protection, milling waste returned to the XPS supplier.
Who it is not for. Wave beginners, and riders of small surf and strapless freestyle — that is the Badger or the 720. The Ripper 6 asks for experience and punishes passivity.
In the box: rear traction pad, leash plug, FCS II fin boxes. Straps are not included, but the V4A inserts are laminated into the deck, so the choice is yours.
