Eighty centimetres of mast is the freeride length, and it means something specific: you can fly higher and you fall harder. In shallow water and shorebreak that mast finds the bottom; in open water it gives height in hand and lets you cross chop without touching down.

The 825 cm² intermediate-aspect wing is the same as in the monocoque version: a sensible balance between early lift and speed. Aluminium instead of carbon makes the foil heavier and softer at speed, but markedly cheaper and far more tolerant of hitting the bottom.

Who it isn't for. For learning, 80 cm is long — start at 60–70 so the fall is shorter. Waves want a short mast and a bigger wing. And carbon is stiffer at speed: if you reach the limit of aluminium, the whole foil gets replaced, not just the wing.
