Plenty of families come to Mui Ne, and while parents are on the water, kids need something to do too. We teach children every season, so here is what is worth knowing before you go.
In short. November to March is dry and warm, but the wind picks up after lunch and brings waves — swim with little ones in the morning. The calmest sea is in April–May and October. Kids' surf camp from age 7, kitesurfing from 12. Children love lake fishing with lunch from the catch, the dunes at sunrise and the Vinpearl park in Nha Trang.
Sea and season
- November–March: dry, around 30 °C, wind almost daily and stronger after lunch, with waves near the shore. Mornings are calmer.
- April–May and October: little wind and a calm sea — the easiest time with small children.
- June–September: rainy season and the summer swell — surf time.
The water is warm all year; kids need a rash vest for the sun, not a wetsuit. Month-by-month table and live beach webcam: Mui Ne weather.
Safety
Swim where others are swimming and stay shallow on windy days — most beaches have no lifeguards, so an adult watches the kids in the water; use shade, hats and sunscreen from 11:00 to 15:00; keep kids away from the kite launch area; and get insurance that covers active holidays.
Things for kids to do
Surf from age 7: our kids' surf camp — groups of 3–10, foam boards and an instructor, from €30 per child per day or from €130 for a week (surf lessons). Kitesurfing from 12: smaller kites and a gentle programme (kitesurfing lessons). Family SUP on calm mornings (SUP tours). Day trips kids enjoy are listed below.
Getting there and staying
There is no airport in Mui Ne; it is 3–4 hours by road from Ho Chi Minh City or Cam Ranh. With kids and luggage a private 7-seat transfer is the easy option, and we can help with beachfront accommodation near the station.
